Looking to the Future
I am sure that our parish family has read in the secular and Catholic newspapers that Cardinal Rigali has initiated an Archdiocesan Capital Campaign – Heritage of Faith – Vision of Hope – a $200,000,000 capital and endowment campaign to provide financial resources to meet the challenges facing our parishes and Archdiocesan ministries. The funding allocations for the extraordinary undertaking are:
Parish Priorities $80,000,000
Catholic Education $50,000,000
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul $25,000,000
St. Charles Borremeo Seminary $20,000,000
Clergy Retirement $15,000,000
Catholic Human Resources $10,000,000
Total $200,000,000
This campaign is being conducted in all the parishes in stages which began in September 2008 through June 2010. The 13 pilot parishes, the 48 Track I parishes, and the 41 Track II parishes have completed their campaigns. The 66 Track III parishes began in September 2009 and the 83 Track IV parishes will begin in January 2010. St. Ignatius Parish is part of the Track IV portion of the campaign.
The Cardinal has set our parish goal at $1,500,000. Please note that $0.35 of every dollar raised by our parish will be returned to us. If we go over our goal, $0.65 of every dollar over our goal will be returned to us. Pledges will be redeemed over a five-year period.
Of the monies that will be returned to our parish as the pledges are redeemed, I am planning the following Parish Infrastructure Repairs and Replacement Projects:
Church Tabernacle Relocation to the center of the altar $ 25,000
Parking lot asphalt repairs $ 5,000
Church/auditorium HVAC air circulator system $ 75,000
School boiler/AC repair &/or replacement $ 40,000
School brick & stress fracture exterior repair $150,000
Old rectory roof, siding & window replacement/repair $ 35,000
Auditorium & gymnasium lighting controls $ 15,000
Church bathroom renovation/repair $ 10,000
PECO natural gas line connection (street to church) $ 30,000
Church steeple and chimney inspection $ 10,000
Church roof repair $ 10,000
Church handicap accessible system (elevator/steps chair) $ 40,000
Parish automated information system upgrade $ 25,000
Parish security system enhancement $ 25,000
Total $545,000
The project costs are estimates at this time and may be revised as budgets and proposals are refined. The above list does not reflect an order of priority. Project priorities will be determined upon need at the time.
